As far as I am concerned you can have as much Stella as you want as long as I can get a decent cask ale or two and preferably a dark mild. Of course there is no chance of that with Punch Taverns who generally only allow rather bland and poor national brands in their pubs. I have just returned from the Grove Ale House where I was able to sample two excellent milds which were available alongside a wide range of other quality beers. Oh how I wish the Boar could offer such an excellent variety.

All terribly sad. Leaves me looking for an old-style Boar's Head replacement. Same sort of atmosphere before any daft refurbs. It won't be for me in the future, I'm afraid. Good, honest freshly cooked food, locals at the bar and community spirit. Unfortunately, they are a dying breed and few and far between.

I asked about Mild in the Flute and they didn't know what it was.

And then fill half the room with huge sofas like a hotel reception area.. :? .?? Very puzzling when they require plenty of room for the music events.

Despite all the work that's been done so far... I can still see the bar in the same place through the window.

I have heard that the kitchen has moved. Possibly into the toilets :o

Everyone I spoke to down there assured me they were knocking it into one room but it seems that the bar remains where it was as does the door at the far end of the bar. I am not sure whether there is still a wall between the old tap room and lounge at the main entrance end. If it's still two rooms I shall be delighted.

Looking forward to giving it a try next Friday.

Bar is still in middle, room between old best(1960’s)(left hand room removed), it’s now 1 room with all round bar, kitchen at back

Still going to be some form of room separation. Dog friendly area + Dog free area for eaters etc...
There's a new facebook page (to add to all the other old ones :? )
It's something like: Boars-Head-Poynton
