Local scam alert

Postby nedsram » Sat Mar 11, 2017 10:13 pm

Lisa Furmanek (Police, PCSO, Macclesfield LPU North & Poynton PCSO) wrote:We have recently received a report of an Italian male selling items of clothing from his vehicle in Poynton. The male has pulled over by an elderly couple and engaged them in convocation. The male states that he owns a clothing factory in Milan and had recently been to a fashion show but plans on giving away his clothing samples before he heads to the airport.

The couple were subsequently conned out of a large sum of money for very poor quality goods. Please alert any elderly neighbours or family members to this scam to prevent them becoming a victim.

If you are approached in a similar way please do NOT hand over any money and call us on 101 with as much detail as possible, males description, car registration plate, make, model.

Always remember to NEVER buy goods from someone you don’t know selling items from a vehicle, but ALWAYS report them to us. You may stop someone else becoming a victim.

Regards

This con has been going on for years. I was approached in a service station car park with the same patter a few years ago. I was approached by a Italian looking man in a service station car park. He showed me jackets he had in the boot of his car. He said he had just arrived from italy and he had surplus top quality leather designer jackets from a Italian clothing show he was selling cheap. Don't be fooled just walk away!

Don't blame Gypsies. Poynton seems to be a soft touch for these thieving scumbags. It's our local constabulary that need to get their act together, it's getting embarrassingly ridiculous now.
