Getting back to the subject, I just hope it raises enough cash to make a tiny scratch into the money the RBS group owes us taxpayers. I recall that at the last count we still own over 70%. As to the use of the site, the building is basically reasonably maintained 60s functional architecture at a key site in the town centre. It has rather less character than the other three corners, certainly two of them, so however it is used I hope the CE planners for once take that into account.

There's a lot of action at the old NatWest premises today ,construction workers on the inside the building and lumberjacks felling the trees to the right of the old bank outside

I reckon Poyntonian 1 is right. Gary McCabe bought the miners, pulled it up by it's bootstraps and made a real success of it. Before that, he did the same with Adlington Manor care home (now Barchester) . So I say good luck to him and I look forward to a few beers in his bar.
