So .... the old Natwest bank building is up for auction. Wonder what it will become? Charity shop - got enough of them. Estate Agent - ditto. Restaurant and other food outlets - ditto. Supermarket - ditto. Pub - ditto. etcetera, etcetera.
Here's a thought - we need a bank in Poynton!!!!

That would be a complete miracle if we got one of them!

We once had NatWest, Barclays, Midland and TSB - plus Cheshire Building Society. All have gone. The problem is that most people do everything online these days and seldom if ever visit a branch other than to use the ATM (and you don't have to visit a branch to do that). I haven't been in one for years. Banks close branches because they become unprofitable.

Nedsram is quite right. I bank with Barclays and visited their Bramhall branch Monday.

The first time in nine months.

Any chance a Pound Shop do you think?

Or, as seems to be the vogue in Poynton, knock it down and build townhouses.

Maybe a prime opportunity/spot to knock NatWest, Mates, Coop pharmacy and empty coop along with all the land behind and do something useful/more up to date if Mates and the coop could be relocated.
Be interesting to see how the parking 'problem' would pan out :geek:

Nothing wrong with houses the main objectors to them seem to be those already lIving in one.
The other option could be a wealthy benefactor like Gavin buying the plot and donating it to the people of Poynton as a park and open space :)

Whilst this area / site is being discussed.
Does anybody know why there is such a dip in the ground in the carpark area behind Mates?

I'm still trying to work out an easy way to pay cash into a non-existent bank...
