Is that in addition to the stated closure from September 25th to 29th?

I went to meet a technician coming from Clitheroe this afternoon to look at our motorhome, which was at Norbury Farm on Jacksons Lane. He phoned when he was 6 miles away to say he'd be there in 10 minutes. I went via Poynton, knowing of course that Woodford Road was closed. It took me 25 minutes to get there. Gridlock on Chester Road starting at Merton Road, and on London Road North starting at Glastonbury Drive. When I finally arrived, he was nowhere to be seen. I had told him that Woodford Road was closed, but that's the way his satnav told him to go (from the A555). He'd apparently been following me through the gridlock about 10 minutes behind.

I don’t know why the closure of a quiet country road has caused such problems.
On the latest Google Earth pictures, taken earlier this year, there are 76 vehicles shown on the mad mile between Fiveways and the Magic Roundabout. 47 shown on Chester Road between Woodford Road and Fountain Place. With Woodford Road only showing only 2/5 ths and 2/3 rds respectively at 30 vehicles.
That means that, at that moment in time, only a quarter of all vehicles on those three roads were using that quiet country lane.

Anyone know whether Woodford Road is actually closed this week?
Thanks.

Although the Town Clerk tweeted it was. The Road Works site show that it is. Cheshire East think it is. High Peak thought is was.
It isn't closed.
2 weeks ago residents were informed that because of the closure for an extra two weeks, the work scheduled to have taken place this week had been completed.
In spite of me telling Cheshire East Highways early last week that the road was not closing , they didn't bother altering information passed on to the public.

Yes it looks pretty well complete, apart from some earth works. Do we still need the 20 mph speed limit?

No one travels at 20 anyway and since to straightening out of the road, traffic speed has greatly increased.
