Cofano coffee shop, .... Parking.

Postby Desmo Man » Mon Jul 24, 2017 12:12 pm

The Cofano coffee shop on School Lane is a lovely business, the staff are very nice and attentive, the Coffee is superb, they deserve to succeed. However will some of their customers please learn how to park their cars !, Earlier there was a car parked on the apex of the corner of School lane and Parklands way, on yellow lines at least 8 inches from the kerb, and the two cars in front of it were also way of the kerb it made turning left into Parklands way from School lane extremely difficult.

Parking is a scarce resource. The success that Cofano has had could well impact on the ability of other businesses in the parade to keep their customers. Other butchers, hairdressers and convenience stores etc., are available if there is nowhere to park. Don't misunderstand. I'm not an advocate of parking the Morris Minor on a double yellow - and I never have done although many do. Insufficient thought is given to creating sufficient parking when planners give approval for new businesses, either here or in the heart of the village. I wonder how long it will take to get them (the planners) to live with the motor car - the bringer of trade - and plan accordingly....

Perhaps the customers could use the P1 bus service. The stop is only at the end of the road.

Or park in the "Waitrose" car park and walk round.

I thought the council blocked the application to build on the land at the side (when they were adding more flats round the back) due to the parking requirement of the shops.

Don’t think they’ve maximised the parking potential at the front of the shops. Last time they revamped it they just created swathes of pavement outside the Co-op for kids to throw their bikes on. A bit of a dogs dinner..

The parking close to Cofano is causing a bit of a problem, there are still cars parking on the corner on the Yellow lines, some with Blue badges. In front of those cars are parked and the people who live on Parklands way are finding it difficult to reverse out from their drives. Why cant people who are visiting Cofano use a little common sense and think " am I causing a problem here for anybody " before they park. Within about a five minuet walk is the
public car park at the town hall, why cant people use that ?

Eateries etc. are likely to use more than their fair share, as customers will be staying longer than they do in convenience stores.
