Lady Bugs

Postby sunbeam2006 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 7:55 pm

Today I was in work in Poynton and round 25 ladybugs appeared, bigger then a normal ladybug mainly black in colour. Has anyone else noticed lots of ladybugs?

They are probably Harlequin ladybirds. They are not native to the UK but appeared around 2004 and are rapidly spreading and out-competing our native ladybird species. They hibernate in buildings over winter so I've seen a lot around the window openings at home over the last week or so. It was the same last year with a dozen or so coming into the house.
