Been informed two months ago that it is scheduled to open in spring 2018 although no specific date given.
It appears that they are behind schedule because the old Chester Rd Woodford should have been closed in December and the new section opened.

Yes that's correct - the Chester Road diversion was scheduled for December. They are also still having problems with flooding of the sections that have yet to be metalled. Easter opening looks quite unrealistic.

Do4es anybody know if the bridge on Woodford Road was redesigned, or did they put the combined footpath / cycle path on the east side of the bridge by mistake. (The diagrams show it on the west side.)

After being carefully planned by the experts....................the Footpath/Cycle path was altered to the other side of the bridge when someone realised that, if it was to continue over the bridge on the western side, users would have to cross the road at a blind bend when heading south.
Heading north, they can cross with a view for both drivers and cyclists. Pedestrians should be on that side anyway.
They can cross at a reasonably open viewing point on the northern side.

Regards opening date...................................try Winter 2018. That's the latest date given to me by workers on the site.

Yes walked it on NYD & it's better on that side tho need a footpath between Lower Park Rd & new footpath in front of bungealows, as walkin south ur constantly worried abt traffic from behind, it's only grass & xtended drives so in interest of safety not a debate

I drove past the construction site close to the oil terminal today, there was nobody in sight, has work stooped due to the collapse of Carillion ?

IMorgan Sindall will assume complete responsibility for the project. The A6MARR team have issued an official statement which can be found here. No doubt there will be some disruption until they manage to sort out this mess.

It's worth mentioning that SMBC were heavily involved with Carillion for council work.

Three mentioned delayed projects: Sandwell Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Aberdeen bypass that have put them in debt.
Maybe they couldn't use the bad weather get out clause as with SEMMS “Delayed project” .
