However the map (reproduced below) and the accompanying text make no mention of Poynton to Macclesfield. Perhaps people should print out the web page and present it to the ticket collectors. Either that or refuse to pay and threaten to sue Northern Rail for defamation of character. If it's a mistake on the web site, it's their problem not ours. (Note that the whole of the Glossop / Hadfield line is in the TfGM area.)

Alderley Edge is the anomaly because all the others have fares to Manchester priced by TfGM rather than Northern and the only other product TfGM product available is a Wayfarer off peak.

Poynton to Macclesfield was never part of a franchise commitment for evening peak restrictions, probably because CrossCountry did price Macclesfield - Stockport or Manchester previously (can't remember which one) and had no franchise commitment to do so, therefore people would use these tickets to circumvent restrictions resulting in serious loses to Northern as they will get the lowest share of ORCATS revenue allocation from the sales. The restrictions were introduced by Serco / Abellio Northern.

If Northern introduce peak restrictions , VT and XC can set their own restrictions on TOC only tickets from Stoke / Macclesfield - Stockport / Manchester.

Northern wouldn't win and revenue is king in the new franchise.

Has anyone heard or seen anything going on in the ticket office?

It was still covered over yesterday.

All done inside, IT problems holding up opening as no tickets can be sold.

Due to Northern requiring a number of IT providers to input the machines... 1 for the ticket machine, 1 for the Software, 1 for the printer etc...

So something like fujitsu for ticket machine , managed printer company and managed IT support provider then at a guess.
