Has anyone any idea how deep Poynton Pool is?
I was once told by a friend who used to fish there occasionally that you could actually walk across it in certain areas.
Does anyone know if this is a fact?

From memory when I used to fish there many years ago the pool is shallow but Im sure there could be areas where it is quite muddy and deep.
With this in mind I wouldn't advise walking across it

According to this site the mean depth is 3.6m, but that's all the info you get.
On there the 'lake' also seems to include the nearby pools in Anglesey Water and inside the garden of 'The Grange' though, which presumably aren't that deep.

When it was in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, Dave Guest of BBC North West Tonight referred to it as "Poynton pond".AndrewJ wrote:the 'lake'

Thanks for the information. I will walk around 'The Pool' with fresh eyes in future.
And it is definitely not a pond!

I agree. It could be quite dangerous to try to walk over it. The mud is tricky as heck.
