Sharon Duke, Communities Co-ordinator, Poynton Town Council wrote:We are fast approaching our next big Poynton Pick and Tidy event. We have chosen to support the Rotary Club’s Party in the Park event so we’re helping them clean Poynton Park on Sunday 17th June. We aim to start around 9am, but if you could manage any time in the morning that would be most helpful.
We will be working with volunteers from Poynton Rotary Club to clear the site (we understand about twelve volunteers), so if you could let Sharon Duke, Communities Co-ordinator at Poynton Town Council know whether you are able to come that would be brilliant, so we can feedback on the number of pickers we can provide.
To give a flavour of what’s involved, we’ll be clearing the audience and gazebo areas of the 'overflowing' black bin liners, empty bottles and abandoned memorabilia [flags/glowsticks etc]. It will require our best litter picking skills as the sheep are returned to the field once the event is over. In previous years the site is usually cleared by 12.00 noon.
You’ll need to be armed with your usual picking uniform – sturdy shoes, litter picker, hi-viz vest and gloves and as usual dress for the weather. Gloves are useful for this event for tying bags of rubbish. Last year the Club kindly provided soft drink refreshments, but it’s always best to bring your own if it’s hot (as it was last year!).
