VIDEO CASSETTES

Postby tankie615 » Thu Aug 02, 2018 4:55 pm

Following a clear-out I have dozens of video cassettes (Films). Local charity shops don't want them.
? Are they destined for the tip? Ideas?

If they are films you want to keep, Max Spielmann will transfer them to DVD, although it's not cheap. There are branches in Macc and Manchester, not sure about Stockport.
You could try an entry on Freecycle - again there are groups in Macc and Stockport.
Otherwise it may well be the tip, although don't feel guilty - they can be incinerated and used to create useful heat. If Cheshire East don't do this then they should !

There used to be a company called Environmental Media Solutions in Bristol, who would recycle up to 100 tapes for free (you pay the postage). However they seem to have gone out of business now.

If you are willing to pay to be super-eco-friendly then this company offer a rather pricey recycling service, which perhaps you could band together with others to use:

If you are at all creative then this webpage has a few ideas:

My favourites are probably the bird box and plant pot!

Many thanks for your response, but sadly the said cassettes have been disposed of .
