More details of the event can be found on the SEMMMS web site

They have yet to publish an official opening date, except that it will be "soon".

So (assuming they don't have the "fun day" when the road is already open!) "early October" means any time from 8th up to the second weekend. Difficult to believe that they haven't yet fixed a firm date - but maybe they want to avoid a "first day rush". I suspect they'll do a lot of work overnight one night and that the road will be magically open in the morning - without a fanfare.

..then we'll have to turn our attention to the Poynton Relief Road for the next three years!

The area close to the oil terminal that was once fenced off and had the construction offices on it is now being used as a store area for equipment. Does anybody know what this area will be used for when it is finally cleared ?

Well 15th October was the date published for it opening with over night work on Sunday being carried out to removed cones etc.

Then press statement to say it would be open at 21:00 (9p.m.) on Monday 15th...........................
So everyone was driving along it before 21:00 on the 14th and it's being well used.

Yep, the road was definitely open when I drove up to Fiveways this morning. And the traffic reports on BBC Radio Manchester were reporting it open with no problems seen.

The next phase of SEMMMS includes a recommendation that there should be a Park and Ride carpark for a bus service to the airport at this junction, so this compound would be the most likely location.
