GAS REPAIR WORK CHESTER ROAD

Postby tankie615 » Sat Sep 05, 2020 12:03 pm

Has anyone else noted that it appears that no one is working at this site today. The temporary traffic lights are in position and operating, traffic back-up as usual.
I realise that the delay is small, but we are constantly afflicted recently with the temporary traffic light scourge!!
At least some activity should be obvious as you drive by.
The 'Road safety Furniture' occupies the inside lane, the works are taking place largely on the verges. Surely, if work is not taking place the road can easily be cleared for a normal traffic flow.
This smacks of a lazy arrogant disregard for road users - once again!!

I did follow up this problem with Cheshire East Highways Dept.
Their spokesman was only interested in whether the contractors finished the job in the time allotted.
He was not interested in anything else including their conduct on the job.
We're on our own folks!!
We are all grateful that the local utilities are monitored and repaired but with work ceasing at 4pm and not taking place at weekends at all someone from highways should ensure that traffic flow is not hindered un-necessarily during the contractors down times.
It wouldn't take more than a few minutes to remove obstructions to the verges.
