This month sees the 20th Anniversary of the Hazel Grove Brass Band.
The Band was originally formed in 1850 and performed for around 100 years, becoming well known in the area for their success. Unfortunately the closure of a local factory in 1950 (employing most of the band members and housing the rehearsal venue) meant the band could not survive any longer.
In September 1992 the band was reformed by local Cornet Player, Mr Les Hall. Taking a number of local residents and a handful of younger players from Poynton Youth Band he fashioned them into yet another prize winning band for Hazel Grove.
In celebration of that last 20 years, the band will be performing an Anniversary Concert at Hazel Grove Civic Hall on 8th September at 7.30pm.
The bands former Principal Cornet (currently playing Flugel Horn for The Fairey Band, Stockport), Michael Eccles will be the Guest Soloist for the evening.
