Chimney pointing.

Postby John Ellis » Sat May 14, 2011 2:47 pm

Can anyone recommend a local firm or craftsman who does a good job of pointing?
We're looking at having the chimneys on our bungalow repointed - part of getting the place tarted up to put it on the market.

We had the ridge tiles pointed a couple of years ago, but as the cement's falling away already, we won't be going back to that guy! So we thought we'd ask for recommendations this time round.

I got a couple of recommendations from the Poynton forum, Adora. It's only a small job, and we've now decided that we'll check with the estate agents, when we get a couple of them in to value the property, whether they think we ought to get it done before we put it on the market.

The other half worries about these things, but my feeling is that you can spend quite a bit on cosmetic improvement before you put your house up for sale, only to find that prospective buyers either aren't bothered or, in the case of carpeting and decoration, immediately want to replace/redo what you've done ...
