Dickens Lane access via Spring Road

Postby keioak » Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:20 am

Does anybody know if there is any truth in the rumour that a householder on Dickens Lane is seeking planning permission to put a road through from the rear of this householders land across a public footpath and out via Spring Road which is a cul-de-sac?

Could be an access road for proposed 150 new houses on Sprink Farm or maybe the householder (he has a massive long garden running parallel with the footpath from Dickens Lane to the fields at the back of the Vernon Estate) wants to sell off some land for development but has no access???

There are two planning applications for Dickens Lane lodged this year, Planning ref 18/1925M and Planning ref 18/1673M. Both are for rear extensions to properties, and neither is the address referred to.

I suspect every house with a large garden is subject to rumours about housing development, the way things are in Poynton at the moment.

The Spink Farm housing developer appeared to have an aspiration to link their new estate with Vernon Road by a footpath, which might be the source of the rumour. The map showed it going across this garden so obviously they'd have to buy some land. I remember thinking at the time that it would have been a good opportunity for the owner to sell a bit more of the garden to the developers for houses or other facilities.

It could have just been poor mapping though. :-)

A neighbour knocked on door of "rumoured" householder on Dickens Lane and was told that the application was just about to be lodged with Planning.
The planned application for the access road will go from the householders land, over the public footpath and out through Spring/Vernon Road.
Rumoured householder did not offer any explanation for the access road application?
