My name is Roy Whitney, and I am an old Poyntonian, born at 5 (5-7 were demolished years ago) Dickens Lane Poynton, and I am endeavouring to verify the accuracy of my memories of Edward Potts, going back to WW2 years?
Edwards father was manager of the 'top Co-Op' in Poynton and lived on Chester Road.
Edward also had a brother Neville, whom I knew quite well, as we were about the same age. Unfortunately, there was a incident in Neville’s early teenage years, the details of which I won’t go into.
However, I remember that Edward was an officer, probably a Captain in WW2 and saw action at Arnhem. Before that he was an officer in Poynton Home Guard.
The last time I saw Edward was at the old Brookfield Cinema attending some prestigious function probably in 1944 - 45. If anyone can verify these memories of Edward Potts, or add to them, I would be most grateful, sincerely, Roy Whitney
